My name is Edmund Tarallo, but most of you know me as Teddy. I am running for school committee because I am not done fighting for the children of Waltham, my years of experience as an active educator makes me uniquely qualified to know and understand what Waltham students need and I will not stop advocating for EVERY student!

Who am I?

I am a loving husband and doting father to two young children.

A third generation educator with a profound passion for education and a deep commitment to the Waltham community.

A Dean of Students at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School for the past six years. A former math teacher for ten years.

A Waltham homeowner with my wife, Lauren.

A product of the Waltham Public School System, graduating in 2000.

A college graduate with a B.A. in Psychology from Brandeis University and a Masters of Education in School Administration from American International College.

A School Committee member who understands what students need and advocates for what is best for students even if it is not popular.

What do you love most about Waltham?

The diversity of the Waltham community. This community has been my home my entire life. I am so proud of how Waltham has grown. It is wonderful to see how accepting and welcoming our community can be. However, with that said we can still do more to include more voices in our decisions.

What would you change if you could?

I would have liked to have been able to keep Dr. Regan as our Superintendent. I felt we needed him more than he needed us at this critical juncture in time. Having a Superintendent that knows and understands our community is key. With his departure we will need to find a shepherd who knows and understands our district till we can find a suitable long-term Superintendent who will hopefully be vested in Waltham for the long run.

What is one burning issue you plan to address if elected?

Continuing to advocate for small class sizes to ensure our teachers can deliver high  quality education at all levels. Waltham has made a commitment to small class sizes that  the stakeholders of our education system expect and our students deserve; it is my goal  to deliver on that promise and keep class size low and equitable across the city.

In conclusion, I will continue to demand transparency within our administration and be  fiscally responsible while continuing to bring academic excellence and small class size to  our students. However, I can only achieve these goals with your vote on Election Day. I  look forward to your support and ask you for one of your three votes for School  Committee.
